Writing Prompts for Back to School

It’s time for our monthly writing prompts!

You’re probably wrapping up summer and getting ready to dive back into academics with the kids.

The prompts below should help you and them get warmed up and ready for study.

Not only that, but their replies will help you prep a great year for them too!

1) What’s the most important thing you learned in your homeschool over the last year?

2) What were your favorite activities and projects and why? What were your least favorite and why?

3) What new subjects would you like to study this year?

4) What new skills or "how tos" would you like to learn this year?

5) What new activities or extracurriculars would you like to do this year? Which ones are you going to continue from the last?

6) Make a Top Ten list of the things you love most about school!

7) Write a Top Ten list of the things you like least about school.

8) Picture and describe a day in your life five years from now. What are you doing? What are you wearing? Where do you live?

9) Picture and describe a day in your life TEN years from now. What are you doing? What are you wearing? Where do you live?

10) What’s the biggest adventure you’ve ever had?

11) What’s the biggest adventure you’d like to have? Pretend that you have all the money or resources you need for your adventure. What would you do? Where would you go?

12) What’s the best book you’ve ever read? What would you like to read in the coming year and why?

13) What’s the most important math fact you know and what makes it so important?

14) What’s the most important science fact you know and why is it so important?

15) In your opinion, what’s the most important event in U.S. history and why?

16) Who has been the most important person (not necessarily still living) in U.S. history and why?
