Solar Eclipse: Best Free Resources

By Lily Iatridis  August 17, 2017

Surely you’ve heard about the solar eclipse!

It’s coming next Monday, August 21st, and it's a really big deal.

Why? Well, they don’t happen all that often. When they do occur, they’re only visible from a small area on Earth…AND that band of visibility is cutting right across the middle of the U.S.!

Interested?

Here are some free quality educational resources to appreciate and enjoy the event fully with your family:

The Planetary Society (led by Bill Nye) has a webpage with videos and a free downloadable packet pdf for younger kids on all aspects of the eclipse at http://www.planetary.org/get-involved/events/2017/2017-total-solar-eclipse.html.

Grab one for your little ones now!

If it’s cloudy or you live too far away to see it live, you can live stream the event from different places around the world on this NASA webpage: https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive.

NASA also offers loads of information about the eclipse for older teens at https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-101.

Enjoy them all, and keep your fingers crossed for a sunny day!
